COMMUNITY CENTER

LOCATION: MASSACHUSETTS PROJECT STATUS: CONCEPT

The client wanted to create a new type of community center, focused around the idea of reinventing the way in which buildings serving the public interest can become more inviting and better acclimated aesthetically into fabric of small cities. Therefore, we set out to recreate the community hub centered around the idea of using simple materials, simple form, and innovative new technologies to promote access for all.

The first floor of the center utilizes garage doors to allow the center to be more open to the public during the warmer months, yet still transparent during the cooler months. The muted palette, with metal siding, brick and locally sourced wood, blends itself into the surroundings and doesn’t dominate its context.
